Education:

Save, Strengthen and Transform Govt Schools into genuine neighbourhood Schools. 

The Journey of Right Track was initially started for elementary inclusive education with the children of deprived communities, i.e. street & working children, engaged in all forms of child labour and mainstreamed them into formal schools under the public education system.  At present, 6 Community Schools at different locations of North 24 Pargana 2  Community Schools in Maheshtala, South 24 Parganas districts and 2 Residential Schools in Kolkata City are running.    

Strategies for Education; –

  • Facilitating in running of madrasas and schools in targeted areas involving underprivileged children,
  • Ensuring preschool education for children between 3 to 6 years by making ICDS Functional
  • Ensure quality education of all children between 6 to 14 years under the formal education system (public education) as per provisions made under The Right of Children to Free &Compulsory Education Act, 2009,
  • Ensure participation of more girl child in the education system
  • Ensure Mid-Day Meal and infrastructure in Govt. aided schools,
  • Reinforcing positive attitude among children towards education,
  • Strengthening Ward Education Committee / Village Education Committee, in Govt aided Schools and pressurize for the formation of a School Management Committee as per the RTE Act.2009,
  • Strengthening Committee, i.e., Mother/parents Teachers’ Association for school monitoring & Development and Child Cabinet in schools for monitoring of Class Management, 
  • Developing coalition/networking with Civil Society Organizations for ensuring quality education in Public Education System and compliance with RTE Act 2009,
  • Providing support to orphan children both in rural and urban communities.

Achievements in the last 10 years:

For improving the child-friendly learning environment in 25 govt. schools, 25 facilitators were deployed and initiated different activities like facilitating special classes, capacitating child cabinets etc. and introducing different support services like wall painting, suggestion box, gardening and library. At the same time, it is also attempted to ensure community participation and encouragement of parents towards taking an interest in the development of their children. 

The followings are the achievement with the efforts of Right Track education team members throughout the last 10 years.

  • Facilitating the functionality and smooth running of 5 madrasas covering minority and underprivileged children 
  • 29,900 children have been mainstreamed into madrasas and schools through school preparedness programs and distributed educational aid.
  • 22,570 girls have completed their school education who were enrolled after successful completion of the bridge course.
  • 29 madrasas and schools have been formed as Child-Friendly Schools in South, South–West Kolkata and Maheshtala Municipality, 24, Parganas (S).
  • Consistent efforts made 10 KMC wards and 2 housing apartments child labour free through its child labour intervention.
  • Nurturing for the overall development of 200 marginalized, deprived, child labour and orphans through two Residential Schools supported by Sarva Shiksha Mission-Kolkata
  • Providing support to 769 orphan children in Block of North 24 Parganas.
